MEN'S LACROSSE OPENS 2022 SEASON WITH A WIN OVER D'YOUVILLE COLLEGE

The Chargers defeated the Saints by a score of 16-6 to improve to 1-0 overall on the season.
Patrick Gifford (Galloway, N.J.) started in goal for the Chargers and recorded 12 saves to earn his first win of the season.
Reece Eck started in goal for the Saints and made 17 saves in the game.
DC jumped out in front early when Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game. The Saints then answered less than a minute later when Nick Sholett scored to tie the game at 1-1.
The Chargers then went on a seven goal scoring run to extend their lead to 8-1 by the end of the first quarter.
The Saints stopped the run when Tristan Engelhardt scored the first goal of the second quarter. The Chargers added two goals in the second quarter and led 10-2 at halftime.
The Chargers extended their lead in the third quarter by adding four goals and led 14-5 by the start of the fourth quarter. DC added two goals in the final quarter and secured the 16-6 win.
Carson finished the game with a team-leading three goals and added three assists. Terence O'Loughlin (Nanuet, N.Y.) scored two goals and added two assists. William Gordon (Amityville, N.Y.), Cole Vencak (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Angel Rosario (Staten Island, N.Y.) each scored two goals and recorded one assist.
Eric Greenwood (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) added two goals while Harley Williams (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), Bryan O'Loughlin (Nanuet, N.Y.), and Jordan Jones-Rivers (Bronx, N.Y.) each scored one goal.
The Saints were led by Tristan Engelhardt who scored a team-high four goals. Corbin Montreal and Nick Sholett each scored one goal. Suman Ramlall added one assist while Steave Lucas recorded two assists.
DC will be back in action when they host the College of St. Rose on Wednesday, March 2nd at 4:00 PM at Torne Valley Sports Complex.
