CHARGERS EARN COMEBACK VICTORY IN CACC OPENER

The Chargers improved to 4-3 (1-0 CACC) after the win.
Kyle Benedetto (Wantagh, N.Y.) and William Gordon (Amityville, N.Y.) combined for six goals by scoring three goals each. Cole Vencak (Smithtown, N.Y.) added two goals. Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), Patrick Roderka (Warwick, N.Y.), and James Conklin (Warwick, N.Y.) added one goal each.
Patrick Gifford (Galloway, N.J.) made 16 saves and recorded the win to improve to 4-2. Roderka won 16 of 22 faceoffs in the game.
The Cougars held a 2-1 lead after the first quarter. Both teams scored three times in the second quarter. Jayden Paladino scored all three for CU and Benedetto scored all three goals for DC.
The Cougars outscored the Chargers 5-2 in the third quarter and took a 10-6 lead into the fourth quarter.
DC scored five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback and secure the victory. Gordon scored twice in the final quarter including the game winner with just over two minutes remaining.
Conklin, Vencak, and Roderka also scored in the final quarter to help finish the comeback.
Gifford made five saves in the fourth quarter to keep the Cougars off of the board.
The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, March 26th when they host the Felician University Golden Falcons at the Torne Valley Sports Complex. The game is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
