CARSON'S OT GOAL LIFTS DC OVER EAGLES

The Chargers improve to 6-5 (3-2 CACC) on the season after the win and the Eagles fall to 4-7 (2-3 CACC).
Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored a team-high four goals including the tying goal in the fourth quarter and game winner in OT and recorded two assists. Carson also took a team-high nine shots.
William Gordon (Amityville, N.Y.) added three goals and one assist. Cole Vencak (Smithtown, N.Y.) and James Conklin (Warwick, N.Y.) each scored two goals.
Kyle Benedetto (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with one goal and one assist while Terence O'Loughlin (Nanuet, N.Y.) scored one goal and added a team-leading four assists.
Patrick Gifford (Galloway, N.J.) recorded a career high in saves with 21. The Charger face off man Patrick Roderka (Warwick, N.Y.) went 18-29 on face offs and picked up 15 ground balls.
For the Eagles, John Carr made 21 saves in net. Braedan Lockyer led the team in goals with five and added one assist. Robbie McGrayne scored two goals while Dylan Heald also scored two goals and added two assists.
Nick Meier, Justin Nogueira, and Brendan Kelleher each added one goal.
The back and forth game had seven lead changes and seven ties. Both teams played an even first half with both teams scoring three goals in the first quarter and two in the second quarter. The largest lead for both sides was two goals.
Post outscored DC in the third quarter 4-3. The Eagles held an early two goal advantage at the beginning of the fourth quarter. DC scored three unanswered goals by three different goal scorers to take an 11-10 lead.
The Eagles answered with two straight goals to tie and then take the lead. The goal by Dylan Heald gave the Eagles the lead with 39 seconds remaining.
The Chargers tied the game with 17 seconds remaining on Carson's third goal of the game which sent the game to OT. At the 2:43 mark of the OT period, Carson ended the game with the game winning goal which was assisted by O'Loughlin.
The Chargers will be back in action on Saturday, April 23rd when they travel to Georgian Court University for a CACC match up and regular season finale at 11:00 AM.
