PURPLE KNIGHTS TOP CHARGERS
Bridgeport, Conn. (4/20/24) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team fell in conference action to the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport this afternoon.
After the loss, the Chargers fall to 3-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play. The Purple Knights improve to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
Bryce Layton (Glenville, N.Y.) made 12 saves but suffered the loss while UB goalkeeper Peter Nazario earned his seventh win in goal for the Purple Knights and made 13 saves.
The Purple Knights jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after the first quarter and outscored the Chargers 3-2 in the second quarter for the 8-2 halftime lead.
UB added five more goals in the third quarter and shut the Chargers out to take a 13-2 lead into the fourth quarter. UB added three more goals in the fourth quarter and the Charger would add one more goal as Bridgeport secured the 16-3 win.
Terence O'Loughlin (Nanuet, N.Y.) scored one goal for the Chargers. Zachary Souza (Stratford, Conn.) scored one goal and picked up two ground balls and one caused turnover.
Brian Barker (Wyckoff, N.J.) scored one goal and added one caused turnover. Joseph DeGregorio (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) added a team-high four ground balls and three caused turnovers while Brenden O'Connor (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) recorded one assist.
James Goodrich scored a team-high four goals to lead the Purple Knights. Dewey Schoenfelder scored three goals and earned two assists. Connor Cullen picked up a game-high 12 ground balls.
The Chargers return to action next Wednesday when they return home to host Holy Family University on O'Brien Field for Senior Day.
