CHARGERS WRAP UP 2024 SEASON WITH WIN ON SENIOR DAY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/24/24) The Dominican University New York men's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2024 season with a conference victory over Holy Family University on Senior Day.
The Chargers finish the 2024 season with an overall record of 4-9 and a CACC record of 2-6.
Prior to today's game, the Chargers recognized their five Seniors with a pregame ceremony. Seniors Devin Morris (Jamaica, N.Y.), Devin Andermanis (Galloway, N.J.), Andrew McKeown (Farmingdale, N.Y.), Kyle Benedetto (Wantagh, N.Y.), and Christopher Chimenti (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) were all honored in today's ceremony.
Goalkeeper Bryce Layton (Glenville, N.Y.) recorded his fourth win of the season in goal for the Chargers. Layton recorded 17 saves in the win.
The Chargers and the Tigers traded goals early in the first quarter but DU scored five unanswered goals to put them ahead and would never look back from there on their way to the 19-11 victory.
Chad Keyser (Kingston, N.Y.) and Kyle Benedetto each scored four goals with Keyser also recording one assist and three ground balls while Benedetto picked up six ground balls.
Zachary Souza (Stratford, Conn.) recorded three goals and three ground balls. Josh Wesneski (Forty Fort, Pa.) and Ian Butler (Toms River, N.J.) each scored two goals.
Terence O'Loughlin (Nanuet, N.Y.) scored one goal and recorded a team-high four assists. Chimenti scored one goal and picked up two assists. Brenden O'Connor (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored one goal and picked up one assist while Jack Sherry (Montgomery, N.Y.) scored one goal.
The Chargers went 24-34 on faceoffs with Wesneski going 4-8 and Patrick Roderka (Warwick, N.Y.) going 20-26. Roderka picked up a team-high 13 ground balls.
