Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/4/22) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team fell to the Cougars of Caldwell University 3-1.
The Chargers fell to 1-8-3 (0-6-1 CACC) after the loss. With the win, CU improves to 3-6-2 (2-2-2 CACC).
Freshman goalkeeper David Arteaga (Middlesex, N.J.) recorded three saves for Dominican but suffered the loss.
Dylan Valencia started in goal for the Cougars and earned the victory. Valencia made seven saves in the win.
The Chargers took six shots in the first half and 10 shots in the second half for 16 total. Lucas Regos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) took a team-high five shots and recorded the assist on the Dominican goal in the second half.
The Cougars broke the scoreless tie 27 minutes into the first half when Chris Ferri scored his first goal of the game.
Griffin Van Cott (Goshen, N.Y.) tied the game early on in the second half after a free kick from Regos Santos.
The Cougars answered at the 68:22 mark when Chris Ferris scored his second goal of the game. Nickolas Fiallos recorded the assist after his first shot was saved but deflected to Ferri for the goal.
Andre Vieira added an insurance goal at 83:19 which extended the CU lead to 3-1 and the Cougars secured the win.
The Chargers return to action this Friday October 7th when they host Holy Family University at 2:00 PM.
