CHARGERS EXTEND STREAK TO THREE WITH WIN OVER GATORS
Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/21/24) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team downed the Gators of Russell Sage College in non-conference action on Coach Baxter Court.
The Chargers improve to 5-6 overall after the win while the Gators fall to 4-7 overall.
Dominican opened the match with a 25-15 victory in the opening set for the 1-0 lead. Dominican used a 9-2 run to extend their lead to 14-6 in the second set. The Gators closed the gap by using a 7-3 run but the Chargers secured the set second for a 2-0 advantage.
The Chargers got off to a fast start in the third set using a 15-6 run and didn't look back on their way to the 3-0 sweep.
Phinehas Wiley (Cedarburg, Wis.) led the way for the Chargers with 10 kills, 12 points, and recorded two service aces. Luke Koster (Geneva, Ill.) recorded a team-high 22 assists and a team-high seven service aces. Koster also added three kills and finished with 10 points.
Jacob Davidson (Bloomington, Ind.) recorded six kills, 8.5 points, and four digs while Gavin Tate (Appleton, Wis.) added three kills and 4.5 points and Tommaso Falchi (Spoleto, Itlay) finished with 5.5 points scored.
The Gators were led by Dylan Fox who finished with a team-high seven kills and 7.5 points. Jack McWilliam recorded a team-high 15 assists while Deshawn Fleary recorded a team-high eight digs.
The Chargers return to action Friday night when they host St. Thomas Aquinas College for their East Coast Conference (ECC) opener at 7:00 PM.
