Winter Haven, Fla. (3/14/22) The Dominican College softball team dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader.
The Lady Chargers fell to Indianapolis by a score of 10-0 in six innings and then fell to Southern Connecticut State University 3-1.
Dominican falls to 2-3 on the season.
Game One: Journey Limardo (Anaheim, Calif.) took the mound for DC and pitched 5.2 innings but suffered the loss to fall to 0-1 on the season.
Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) finished the game with a team-leading two hits. Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) and Elizabeth Tolkan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) each added one hit.
Dominique Proctor led the way for the Greyhounds by finishing with four RBIs and a homer. Lexy Rees added two hits including a homer and one RBI.
Emily O'Connor added two and two RBIs. Haylie Foster finished with three hits and one RBI.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Greyhounds took the lead after the Rees homer. The Greyhounds extended their lead to 2-0 in the fifth inning.
The Greyhounds scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend out to a 10-0 lead. The Greyhound rally was capped off after a homer by Proctor to secure the win.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers looked to bounce back in game two against the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University.
The Lady Chargers jumped out in front in the bottom of the first inning when Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) stole third and then scored on an error.
DC held the 1-0 lead until the fifth inning when the Owls rallied and took a 3-1 lead. Jacqueline Dumont hit a two-run homer to give SCSU a 2-1 lead. Paige Delier later drove in the third run on a sac fly.
Miscia finished with two stolen bases. Paige Sesser (Brentwood, Calif.) led the team in hits with two. Tolkan added one hit.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday, March 16th for a double header when they face Slippery Rock at 10:00 AM and then Indiana (Pa.) at 12:15 PM.
