Winter Haven, Fla. (3/19/22) The Dominican College softball team wrapped up their spring break trip to Florida today with losses to Minot State and University of Minnesota-Crookston in games played at The Spring Games.

Dominican fell in their opening contest, 15-2 in five innings and dropped a 4-2 decision to University of Minnesota-Crookston to now stand at 4-7 on the season.

Game One:  The Beavers held a commanding 8-1 lead after two innings of play and increased the lead to 14-1 after four and half innings.  Left fielder Shanya McGeachy (Bayonne, N.J.) singled home a run for the final 15-2 score.

Toni-Jo Lopez (Sylmar, Calif.) went 2-2 in the game.

Paige Sasser (Brentwood, Calif.) took the loss (0-2) in three innings of work.

Game Two:  Dominican trailed 1-0 after two innings of play, but scored a run in the third on the RBI single to center field off the bat of Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calf.) to tie the game at 1-1.

The Golden Eagles scored three runs in their half of the fifth to regain the lead, 5-1.  The Lady Chargers scored a run in their final at-bat for the final 4-2 score.

Ridge finished the game with two hits.

Starter Kyra Wiens (Chilliwack, British Columbia) suffered the loss (1-3) in four and 2/3 innings of work.

The Lady Chargers are scheduled to return to action on March 23rd when they open up Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play as they host Caldwell University.
