LADY CHARGERS OPEN CONFERENCE PLAY WITH A SWEEP OVER GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE
Wilmington, DE (3/26/22) The Dominican College softball team earned a sweep over the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College to open the CACC portion of their schedule.

Wilmington, DE (3/26/22) The Dominican College softball team earned a sweep over the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College to open the CACC portion of their schedule.
After the sweep, the Lady Chargers improved to 6-7 (2-0 CACC) on the season.
Game One: The Lady Chargers took game one by a score of 5-2 over the Lightning.
Kyra Wiens (Chilliwawack, British Columbia) took the mound for DC in game one and earned her second win of the season on four innings pitched. Samantha Carbonara (Newark, Del.) entered the game in relief and recorded her second save of the season.
Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) and Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) each drove in one RBI. Elizabeth Tolkan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) added a double and scored one run. Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) stole three bases, scored one run, and recorded one hit. Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) added one hit and scored one run.
For the Lightning, Alex Lowry hit a solo homer in the third inning and later drove in her second RBI of the game. Kelly Forrest also added two hits.
After falling behind in the third inning, DC answered with a three-run rally in the top of the fourth inning. Walker's RBI tied the game then Raya and Walker later scored on an error to give DC the lead.
Haggerty extended the lead in the fifth inning and DC added one more run in the sixth inning for the 5-2 lead and secured the game one victory.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers earned a comeback win in game two to complete the sweep over the Lightning.
Miscia went 4 for 5 in the win and added one RBI and two runs scored. Walker finished with two hits including a double and one RBI. Madison Navarrete (Calimesa, Calif.) added three hits including a double and drove in one RBI.
Adriana Barnes (North Brunswick, N.J.) hit two doubles and drove in two RBIs. Haggerty and Toni-Jo Lopez (Sylmar, Calif.) drove in two RBIs each.
The Lady Chargers fell behind early in the game and trailed 6-2 in the third inning. DC scored seven unanswered runs between the sixth and seven innings.
Barnes got the comeback started with an RBI groundout and Lopez followed with a single that drove in two runs to cut the deficit to 6-5.
DC rallied in the top of the seventh inning to take the lead. Walker, Barnes, and Navarrete all hit RBI-doubles and Miscia capped off the inning with an RBI-single.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Sunday, March 27th when they host Queens College for a non-conference double header. Game one is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM and game two will follow at 2:00 PM.
