Waterbury, Conn. (4/12/22) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader with host, Post University, in games played today at Lamoy Field.

Waterbury, Conn. (4/12/22) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader with host, Post University, in games played today at Lamoy Field.
Dominican won the opener 2-1, while the Eagles took the second game, 8-4.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the sixth inning when the Lady Chargers got on the board with a run-scoring single to right field off the bat of designated player Giovanna Salcido (Diamond Bar, Calif.) for the 1-0 lead. DC added to the lead in the seventh when Brooke Lockwood (Moorpark, Calif.) singled home a run to make the score 2-0.
The Eagles scored a run in their final at-bat for the 2-1 Lady Charger win.
First basemen Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) went 2-3 win the game.
Kyra Wiens (Chilliwack, British Columbia) improved to 3-6 on the season with the complete game victory.
Game Two: Post led 2-0 after two innings of play, but DC got a run back in the top of the third on the RBI single to left field from center fielder Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.).
Post countered with four runs in the bottom of third to extend the lead to 5-1. Dominican scored a run in the fifth on a fielding error to make the score 5-2. Trailing 8-2 heading into the final at-bat, Salcido brought home two runs on a single to right field for the evental 8-4 loss.
Miscia went 3-4 in the game with two runs scored.
Salcido picked up two hits and two RBI, while shortstop Toni-Jo (Sylmar, Calif.) went 2-3 with two runs scored.
Starter Samantha Carbonara (Newark, Del.) suffered the loss.
The Lady Chargers return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Caldwell University.
