WIENS RECORDS CAREER HIGH STRIKEOUTS IN GAME ONE AS DC EARNS A SWEEP OVER GRIFFINS
Philadelphia, Pa. (4/19/22) The Dominican College softball team earned a sweep over the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College.

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/19/22) The Dominican College softball team earned a sweep over the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College.
The Lady Chargers took game one 3-0 in eight innings and then completed the sweep with a 6-3 win in game two.
DC improved their record to 11-15 (6-6 CACC) on the season.
Game One: Kyra Wiens (Chilliwack, British Columbia) pitched a strong game for the Lady Chargers turning in eight shutout innings and recorded 18 strikeouts which is a career high. Weins only allowed three hits in the win.
The Lady Chargers recorded five total hits as a team. Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) went 2-2 with two walks and hit the three-run homer in the eighth inning which would be the difference in the game.
Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) added a double while Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.) and Toni-Jo Lopez (Sylmar, Calif.) each added one hit.
Victoria Grillo recorded two hits for Chestnut Hill. Steph Tonucci added one hit.
The game was scoreless through the first seven innings. The only runs of the game were scored in the top of the eighth inning.
After Lopez singled and Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) reached on an error, Miscia smacked a three-run homer to give DC the lead. Wiens shut the door in the bottom of the eighth inning to finish off the win.
Game Two: DC completed the sweep with a 6-3 win in game two. Walker finished with two hits including a homer in the third inning and two RBIs. Lopez finished with two hits in the win.
Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) added two hits and drove in one RBI. Adriana Barnes (North Brunswick, N.J.) hit a seventh inning homer which gave DC an insurance run. Miscia added one hit and one RBI.
Both teams traded runs through the first three innings. DC extended their lead with a three-run rally in the fourth inning. DC never lost the lead from there and secured the sweep.
For the Griffins in game two, Lily Reid had two hits including a homer in the second inning which got CHC on the board. Steph Tonucci added one hit and two RBIs.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action when they return home on Wednesday, April 20th to host Wilmington University. Game one is scheduled for 2:30 PM and game two will follow at 4:30 PM.
