LADY CHARGERS SPLIT WITH WILMINGTON UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/20/22) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University today in games played at the South Orangetown Little League Field. DC won the opener, 9-0, in five innings while the 'Cats took game two, 6-4.

(4/20/22) The Dominican College softball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington University today in games played at the South Orangetown Little League Field. DC won the opener, 9-0, in five innings while the 'Cats took game two, 6-4.
Following the games, the Lady Chargers are now 12-16 overall and 7-7 in conference play.
Game One: The Lady Charger offense scored three runs in the bottom of the first as Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) blasted a two-run home run and later Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) singled home a run for the early 3-0 lead.
DC added a run in the second on the solo home run off the bat of center fielder Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and exploded for five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth. Walker produced a one out two-run double and Raya hit a three-run home run to bring home the 9-0 win.
Walker and Raya finished with two hits and four RBI in the win, while Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) added two hits and two runs.
Starter Kyra Wiens (Chilliwack, British Columbia) picked up the complete game shut out win and collecting six strikeouts.
Game Two: The nightcap saw the 'Cats get on the scoreboard with two runs in the top of the first stanza, but the Lady Chargers countered with two runs in th bottom of the second on the RBI single by Elizabeth Tolkan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and a Wilmington error.
WilmU got the two runs back in their half of the third and added runs in the fourth and fifth inning to claim a 6-3 lead. DC scored a run in the bottom of the third on the solo home run by Rebecca Haggerty (Grafton, Mass.)
Dominican scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as shortstop Toni-Jo Lopez (Sylmar, Calif.) singled home a run for the final 6-4 score.
Haggerty and Raya each had two hits in the loss.
Starter Journey Limardo (Anaheim, Calif.) took the loss in four innings of work.
Dominican returns to action on Friday afternoon when they host Nyack College.
