DOMINICAN HITS SEVEN HOME RUNS IN VICTORIES OVER SAINT ROSE
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/27/22) The Dominican College softball team downed the visiting Golden Knights from the College of Saint Rose in non-conference games played today. The Lady Chargers won the first game, 8-7 and took the nightcap, 15-7 in six innings.

With the wins the Lady Chargers improve to 17-21 overall.
Game One: Dominican scored four runs in the top of the first as Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) led off the inning with a solo home run. Two batters later Madison Walker (Southampton, N.J.) hit her first home run of the afternoon on a shot over the left field fence for a 3-0 lead. A single to right field by second basemen Elizabeth Tolkan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) brought in the final run of the inning for the 4-0 advantage.
The Lady Chargers led 4-3 heading into the bottom of the third when Madison Newman (Phelan, Calif.) hit a RBI single to to right center field to increase the lead to 5-3.
Saint Rose added a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to claim a 6-5 advantage, but DC countered in their half of the sixth inning as centerfielder Kristin Miscia (Basking Ridge, N.J.) led off the inning with a home run and three batters later designated player Kamryn Raya (Corona, Calif.) delivered a two-run home run over the right center field fence to regain an 8-6 lead. The Golden Knights scored a run in the top of the seventh for the final 8-7 DC victory.
Miscia, Newman and Haylee Redmond Ridge (Bellflower, Calif.) had two hits a-piece.
Reliever Samantha Carbonara (Newark, Del.) picked up the win in four innings of work. Starter Kyra Wiens (Chiliwack, British Columbia) collected six strikeouts in three innings of work.
Game Two: The Lady Chargers scored five runs in the second as freshman Emma Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) hit her first collegiate home run as she blasted a three-run shot over the left center field fence. Two batters later Miscia hit her second homer of the afternoon as a shot over the left center field fence brought home two more runs.
A run in the fourth on the RBI single by Tolkan increased the lead to 9-6. Following a Golden Knight run in the sixth, DC tacked on six more runs in the sixth to end the game. Walker led off the inning with a solo home run and Carbonara later followed with a two-run double. Jalaeya LaPorte (Sylmar, Calif.) doubled home a run and Madison Navarrete (Calimesa, Calif.) reached on an error which allowed a run to score and end the game with a 15-7 DC win.
Navarrete, LaPorte and Kaszovitz all had three hits in the win, while Miscia added three RBI.
Starter Paige Sasser (Brentwood, Calif.) earned the win in five innings of work and picking up five strikeouts.
Dominican will travel to St. Thomas Aquinas College tomorrow afternoon.
