The Lady Chargers defeated the Saints by a score of 12-10 to improve their record to 4-2 overall and extended their winning streak to three straight games.
Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) made 13 saves in the win. Grace DeStasio (West Hempstead, N.Y.) led the way for DC with five goals and one assist. DeStasio also took a team-high six shots.
Caitlin Costello (Seaford, N.Y.) and Erica Ortiz (Slate Hill, N.Y.) each scored two goals. Lea Henke (Rocky Point, N.Y.), Josie Lettieri (Deer Park, N.Y.), and Sarah Smith (Slate Hill, N.Y.) each scored one goal.
Ellie Brouwer (West Long Branch, N.J.), Sydney Strohmayer (Rocky Point, N.Y.), and Anna Kaminskey (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) each recorded one assist.
The Saints jumped out in front with two straight goals by Marissa Malvaso to start the first quarter.
DeStasio got DC on the board less than a minute later. The Saints extended their lead to 3-1, but DC scored four unanswered goals including two more goals by DeStasio.
The Saints answered with three straight goals to retake the lead over the Lady Chargers. DeStasio scored her fourth goal of the first half to tie the game and the score would remain tied by halftime.
The Lady Chargers outscored the Saints 4-0 in the third quarter to take a 10-6 lead.
D'Youville cut the DC lead to one goal in the fourth quarter but the Lady Chargers added an insurance goal late and secured the 12-10 victory.
The Saints were led by Marissa Malvaso who scored four goals and added two assists. Bethany Wolcott scored two goals and recorded one assist. Riley Riedel scored one goal and added a team-leading three assists.
Sydney Gordon added one goal and one assist. Paige Cocina and Tiffany Cristofanelli each scored one goal.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action when they open conference play on Tuesday, March 22nd when they host Felician University. The game is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
