LADY CHARGERS RALLY TO DEFEAT WILDCATS
New Castle, Del. (3/30/22) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team rallied with seven goals in the fourth quarter to defeat the Wilmington University WIldcats, 15-9, this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action at the WU Athletics Complex.

Dominican improves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while Wilmington falls to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the CACC.
The Lady Chargers trailed 9-8 heading into the final quarter of play when the offense exploded for seven unanswered goals. Freshman Jordana Tomasetti (Middletown, N.J.) got things going in the final quarter with the unassisted score with 13:53 left. Less than a minute later, graduate student Sarah Smith (Slate Hill, N.Y.) scored a goal off the pass from Ellie Brouwer (West Long Branch, N.J.) to give DC their first lead of the second half.
With 12:29 left, attacker Erica Ortiz (Slate Hill, N.Y.) netted a goal on a free position shot and a little over two minutes later Caitlin Costello (Seaford, N.Y.) followed with an unassisted goal. Sydney Strohmayer (Rocky Point, N.Y.) made the score 13-9 with 9:24 to go in the game on a goal off the dish from Costello and Brouwer later followed with a goal off the assist from Costello. The final game goal was scored by Strohmayer on the man-up opportunity with the assist going to Grace DeStasio.
Costello, Smith and Strohmayer finished the contest with three goals a-piece, while Costello added a team best three assists in the win.
Teammates DeStasio and Tomasetti scored two goals each, with Ortiz and Brouwer each scoring a goal.
Goalkeeper Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) made 10 saves in the victory.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Saturday evening when they host Chestnut Hill College. Game time is set for 7pm at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.
