WOMEN'S LACROSSE DEFEAT SPARTANS
Sparkill, N.Y. (4/6/22) The Dominican College women's lacrosse team won their ninth straight contest after defeating the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College, 19-12, this afternoon in a non-conference game played at Spartan Field.

The win improves the Lady Chargers overall record to 10-2, while the Spartans fall to 3-6 on the season.
Dominican opened the game with a 4-0 run with Grace DeStasio (West Hempstead, N.Y.) scoring the first two goals and Sarah Smith (Slate Hill, N.Y.) netting the other scores. The Spartans closed out the first quarter with two goals to cut the deficit in half.
The Lady Chargers outscored their counterparts, 5-4, in the second quarter with DeStasio completing the hat trick during that time and Jordana Tomasetti (Middletown, N.J.) scoring two goals. Josie Lettieri (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Sydney Strohmayer (Rocky Point, N.Y.) each scored a goal in the quarter to increase the lead to 9-6 at the intermission.
The third quarter belonged to the DC offense as they scored five more goals to the Spartans one score. Strohmayer added two more goals on the day and freshman Erica Ortiz (Slate Hill, N.Y.) closed out the quarter with the final two goals. Tomasetti accounted for the other score of the period.
Both teams scored five goals each in the final 15 minutes of action with DeStasio picking up three more scores and Tomasetti netting two more goals for the 19-12 win.
DeStasio tied her career high with six goals, while Tomasetti finished with five goals and two assists.
Attacker Caitlin Costello (Seaford, N.Y.) had a team leading six draw controls and Ortiz finished with five controls.
Goalkeeper Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) made 11 saves.
DC returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Georgian Court University.
