Newark, Del. (9/17/22) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team earned a conference win over the Wildcats of Wilmington University by a score of 2-1.
The Lady Chargers win their second straight game and improve to 4-2-1 (2-1 CACC) on the season. The Wildcats fall to 2-4 (1-1-1 CACC).
Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland) earned the win in net for Dominican and made five total saves. Wilmington goalkeeper Mio Nakajima suffered the loss and made eight saves.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead when Samantha Emmi scored with less than a minute to play in the first half. Hannah Osborne assisted on the goal.
The Lady Chargers came from behind and scored two goals in the second half. Danai Chimedza (Atlanta, Ga.) tied the game at the 55:36 mark. Kaitlyn Zeeb (Piscataway, N.J.) gave Dominican the lead at 72:51 which would become the game winner.
Isabella Wysocki (Rahway, N.J.) earned an assist on both goals while Sabine Sorensen (Ballerup, Denmark) also added an assist on the second goal.
Paton shut the Wildcats out in the second half and made three saves.
Dominican will be back in action on Wednesday, September 21st when they return home to host the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport at 2:00 PM.
