SECOND HALF COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AS THE UNIVERSITY OF BRIDGEPORT TOPS WOMEN'S SOCCER

Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/21/22) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team fell to the University of Bridgeport by a score of 4-3.
The Lady Chargers fought their way back into the game in the second half after falling behind 4-1 but the comeback fell short.
With the loss, Dominican falls to 4-3-1 (2-2 CACC). UB improves to 4-3-1 (3-0 CACC) after the win.
Stella Paton (Edinburgh, Scotland ) started in goal for Dominican and made two saves but suffered the loss. Clara Karlsson earned the win for Bridgeport and made seven saves.
Lauren Drummond (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) entered the game in relief at the beginning of the second half and recorded three saves.
Four goals were scored between both teams in the first half. Both teams traded goals just over a minute apart to get the scoring started. Olivia Pousette gave the Purple Knights the lead and Klara Hansson (Malmo, Sweden) answered back for Dominican to tie the game 1-1.
Two more first half goals extended the Bridgeport lead to 3-1 over Dominican. Kate Thill regained the lead for the Purple Knights and Solune Moll extended the lead to 3-1. Morgan Dodge and Olivia Pousette assisted on the goals.
The Lady Chargers fell behind 4-1 early in the second half when Angelina LoFranco extended the Bridgeport lead.
Dominican answered back when Isabella Wysocki (Rahway, N.J.) scored to cut the deficit to 4-2. Sabine Sorensen (Ballerup, Denmark) picked up an assist on the goal.
Less than two minutes later, Alissa Madura (Warwick, N.Y.) got Dominican within one goal when she scored on a header off of a corner kick by Wysocki who picked up the assist and completed a three-point game.
Dominican fired 10 total shots in the second half during the comeback effort but were not able to tie the game and Bridgeport secured the win.
Dominican will return to action this Saturday the 24th when they travel to Chestnut Hill College at 6:00 PM.
