LADY CHARGERS EARN FIFTH SEED IN UPCOMING CACC SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
2023 CACC Women's Soccer Championship Central
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/3/23) The Dominican University New York women's soccer team has finished fifth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) standings with the conclusion of the regular season yesterday and has earned the fifth seed in the upcoming CACC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.
The Lady Chargers finished the regular season with an overall record of 6-6-3 overall and a CACC mark of 5-3-3. The team concluded the regular season on a three-game winning streak which allowed them to finish with 18 points.
Dominican posted a 2-3-2 record this season against the seven other seeds in the upcoming tournament. DUNY owns wins over #7 the University of Bridgeport and #8 Chestnut Hill College, while posting ties against #3 Caldwell University and #6 Georgian Court University. Earlier this season, the Lady Chargers fell to #4 Holy Family University, 2-1.
As a team, the Lady Chargers sit third in the conference in assists (25) and seventh in goals scored (22).
This marks the fifth straight CACC Championship Tournament appearance for the program and the first for head coach, Brett Axelrod.
The Lady Chargers will open tournament play with a quarterfinal match at #4 Holy Family University on Sunday, November 5th. Kickoff is slated for 1pm.
