WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TURNED AWAY IN SEASON OPENER BY THE COLLEGE OF SAINT ROSE

The Chargers dropped the opening set to the Golden Knights 25-14 and then fell behind 2-0 after a 25-22 loss in the second set. St. Rose completed the sweep with a 25-21 victory in the third and final set.
Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) finished the match with 10 kills, 10 points, and seven digs for DUNY. Alessandra Pantoja (Lewisville, Texas) recorded a team-high 26 assists.
Pantoja also finished with seven digs, 5.5 points, and three kills. Lindley McCutcheon (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) added 10 points and nine kills. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) added a team-leading 10 digs in the loss.
The Golden Knights were led by Julia Calvacanti and Sydney Zandstra who scored 9.5 points each. Valeria Jorge added a team-high in assists with 30 and digs with 13. Jessica Vargas recorded seven kills, nine digs and scored 8.5 points.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they travel to Shepherdstown, West Virginia on Saturday, August 27th for two non-conference matches. The Chargers will face Chowan University at 1:00 PM and then Shepherd University at 5:00 PM.
