Shepherdstown, W. Va. (8/27/22) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team traveled to Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia for the Ram Rumble. 

The Chargers dropped both matches of a double header to fall to 0-3 overall on the season.

Match One: The Chargers dropped the opening match 3-1 to the Hawks of Chowan University. 

The Hawks jumped out in front after a 25-20 victory in the first set. The Chargers battled in the second set to edge the Hawks 26-24 and bounce back to tie the match 1-1.

The Hawks answered by winning back to back sets completing the 3-1 match win over the Chargers. 

Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) led the way for the Chargers by recording team-highs in kills with 15 and points with 16.5. Carr also added nine digs. 

Lily Ainsworth (Colorado Springs, Colo.) recorded 27 assists while Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) added 12 digs. Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) finished with 13.5 points and 10 kills. 

Match Two: The Rams of Shepherd University defeated the Chargers in a 3-0 sweep to improve their record to 4-0. 

Dominican N.Y. completed the day with a loss to fall to 0-3 on the season. 

The Rams took the first set by a score of 25-14 and then followed up with a 25-16 win in the second set. Shepherd completed the sweep of DUNY with a 25-18 victory in the third and final set. 

Carr led the way in kills and points for the second consecutive match with eight kills and eight points. Alessandra Pantoja (Lewisville, Texas) recorded a team-high 16 assists and added nine digs. 

The Chargers will look to bounce back when they return to action on Tuesday, August 30th when they host the Knights of Queens College for their home opener at 6:00 PM.
