WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SUFFERS FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS OF THE SEASON

Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/17/22) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team suffered their first conference loss of the season to the Bears of Bloomfield College.
With the loss, the Chargers fall to 5-6 (3-1 CACC). The Bears improved to 4-4 (3-0 CACC) after the win.
Kaitlyn Carr (Rogers, Ark.) finished with a match high in kills with 12. Carr also added 12 digs and 14 points. Setter Alessandra Pantoja (Lewisville, Texas) finished with a match leading 29 assists and added three service aces. Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) contributed six kills and 9.5 points as well as two solo blocks and three block assists.
Savannah Tody (Minneapolis, Minn.) recorded five kills and 7.5 points while Abigail Thompson (Aledo, Texas) added eight digs.
For the Bears, Jaizahir Marrero led the way with 12 kills and 13.5 points. Lily Jackson recorded 19 assists while Amanda Arroyo added 12 assists. Karla Maldonado finished with 12 digs.
The Bears earned a Sweep over the Chargers handing Dominican their first conference loss. The Bears held the lead for most of the first set and the Chargers fought their way back but fell by a score of 25-21.
The Bears took a 2-0 lead after using a 5-1 run to help secure the second set 25-20. Bloomfield finished off the win with a 25-19 victory in the third set to complete the sweep.
The Chargers will look to bounce back when they travel to Caldwell University on Wednesday, September 21st for a conference north division match up with the Cougars at 7:00 PM.
