GRIFFINS OUTLAST CHARGERS IN FIVE SETS

The Chargers fall to 7-8 (5-3 CACC) and the Griffins improve to 9-9 (5-2 CACC).
Both teams played a back and forth match that took all five sets. The Chargers opened the match with a 25-20 win in the opening set. The Griffins tied the match at 1-1 by using an 8-2 run to finish the second set victory 25-19.
The Chargers answered back to take a 2-1 advantage over CHC after a 25-21 win in the third set. Dominican jumped out to an 8-2 lead but the Griffins fought back to tie the set and take the lead. The Chargers came back to regain the lead and finished off the win for the 2-1 match lead.
The Griffins won back to back sets to complete the comeback effort by taking the fourth set 25-20 and then solidified the win with a victory in the fifth set 15-6.
Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) led the way for the Chargers with 18.5 points, 16 kills, and 15 digs. Setter Alessandra Pantoja (Lewisville, Texas) recorded a team-high 38 assists and added 11 digs. Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) added 11 kills and 12.5 points.
Savannah Tody (Minneapolis, Minn.) finished with eight kills and nine points. Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) scored 10 points on six kills and a team-leading eight block assists. Andreya Davis (Peekskill, N.Y.) added eight kills and two block assists for 10 points. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) finished with a team-high 16 digs.
The Griffins were led by Mikayla Grimes who added 20 kills, 13 digs, and 23.5 points. Henielys Ramos added 17 kills and 19 points. Erika Dubosky finished with 10 kills and 13 digs. Torrin Kelley recorded a team-high 20 digs. Mia Caporiellie added a team-high 48 assists.
Dominican will return to action on Wednesday, October 5th when they host Alliance University at 7:00 PM.
