CHARGERS UPENDED BY NON-CONFERENCE OPPONENT ADELPHI UNIVERSITY

Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/6/22) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team fell in non-conference action to the Panthers of Adelphi University 3-1.
The Chargers fell to 8-9 overall after the loss. Adelphi improves to 10-8 overall.
The Panthers jumped out in front 5-0 early in the first set. The Chargers ended the run and closed the gap to tie the score. Adelphi never lost the lead and took the 1-0 match lead.
The second set was a back and forth contest and each team's largest lead was only four points. The Chargers edged the Panthers 25-23 to tie the match.
The Panthers started the third set on a 15-5 run and never looked back for the 25-10 victory and the 2-1 match lead. The Panthers finished off the win after taking the fourth set by a score of 25-19.
Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) led the way for Dominican with 14 kills and 16.5 points. Perez also added six digs. Alessandra Pantoja (Lewisville, Texas) recorded a team-high 29 assists and added 10 digs. Abigail Thompson (Aledo, Texas) recorded 18 digs.
Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) finished with nine kills, nine digs, and 10 points. Savannah Tody (Minneapolis, Minn.) seven kills and eight points.
The Panthers were led by Samantha Collins who recorded a team-high in kills with 12 and points with 16. Collins also contributed six block assists. Jamie Yonker added a match-high in digs with 20.
Noelle Alberda and Macarty McQueen each finished with 10 kills. McQueen also added 12 digs and 12.5 points while Alberda added 13 points.
The Chargers return to action on the road when they travel to Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday, October 8th at 5:00 PM.
