Wilmington, Del. (10/8/22) The Dominican University New York women’s volleyball team swept the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College 3-0 to improve to 9-9 (7-3 CACC) on the season.

The Lightning fall to 0-19 (0-8 CACC) after the loss.
The Chargers took the opening set by a score of 25-22. GBC got off to a good start but the Chargers answered back and outscored the Lightning 6-1 to close out the first set for the 1-0 match lead.
The second set was even most of the way until the Chargers used an 11-3 run to finish off the win for the 2-0 lead over GBC.
In the third set, the Chargers held a 13-7 lead but the Lightning scored six unanswered points to tie the score and would jump out in front 22-19. The Chargers answered by going on a 6-0 run to close out the 25-22 victory and earn the 3-0 sweep.
Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) led the Chargers in kills with 11 and points with 13.5 as well as five block assists. Freshman setter Alessandra Pantoja (Lewisville, Texas) added a match high 34 assists and also recorded seven digs. Pantoja also recorded three service aces.
Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) scored 12.5 points and added 10 kills. Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) finished with nine kills, nine points, and eight digs. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) led Dominican in digs with 18.
The Lightning were led by Piper Nanouski who recorded 17 kills and 17 points. Nanouski also added 10 digs. Autumn Spendlove added a team-high 26 assists. Claudia Camporro contributed a team-leading 15 digs.
The Chargers return to action on Tuesday, October 11th when they travel to Post University for a CACC North Division match up with the Eagles at 7:00 PM.
