WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF BRIDGEPORT IN FIVE SETS

Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/13/22) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team fell in five sets to the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport.
The Chargers held a 2-0 match lead but UB rallied to win three sets in a row and secure the 3-2 victory.
With the loss, Dominican falls to 9-11 overall and 7-5 in the conference. Bridgeport improves to 8-15 overall and 7-5 in the conference.
Dominican got off to a strong start after winning the opening set 25-17 and then edged the Purple Knights in the second set 25-23.
UB answered to win the third set 25-22 after outscoring Dominican 11-8 down the stretch to get on the board.
The Purple Knights won the fourth set 25-21 to force a fifth and final set.
Dominican held a 10-7 lead in the fifth set but UB fought back and used an 8-2 run to secure the win.
Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) finished with a team-high in kills with 17 and 21 points which was also a team-high. Perez also recorded 11 digs and five service aces.
Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) and Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) each added 11 kills and 13 points. Ellis recorded four block assists while LaPier finished with 15 digs.
Alessandra Pantoja (Lewisville, Texas) led the way in assists for Dominican with 37 and also added 10 digs. Andreya Davis (Peekskill, N.Y.) finished with seven kills and eight points. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) added a team-high 22 digs.
Bridgeport was led by Lucia Tomiello who finished with 19 kills and 22 points. Marissa Mullins recorded 18 kills and 23.5 points. Paola Hernandez added 10 kills and 12 points. Jaden Drollinger finished with a match high 41 assists while.
The Chargers return to action on Saturday when they travel to Millersville University for a non-conference match at 1:00 PM.
