VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO HOLY FAMILY UNIVERSITY IN CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS
Philadelphia, Pa. (11/7/22) The Dominican University New York women’s volleyball team fell in the 2022 CACC Quarterfinals to the Tigers of Holy Family University 3-1.
Philadelphia, Pa. (11/7/22) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team fell in the 2022 CACC Quarterfinals to the Tigers of Holy Family University 3-1.
The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a 25-19 win in the opening set and a 25-22 win in the second set.
Dominican got on the board after winning a back and forth third set to force a fourth set.
The Chargers started off strong in the fourth set and led most of the way. The Tigers closed the gap and tied the score at 15-15.
Both teams played strong down the stretch but the Tigers outscored the Chargers 6-2 to secure the match victory.
Elizabeth Perez (Miami, Fla.) led the way for Dominican by recording a career high in kills with 22. Perez also finished with 22.5 points and 19 digs which were also team-highs.
Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) recorded 10 kills, 11 points, and 15 digs. Linda Armao Peng (Houston, Texas) and Alessandra Pantoja (Lewisville, Texas) also added 15 digs . Pantoja also finished with a team-high 31 assists.
Aaliyah Ellis (League City, Texas) scored 8.5 points and also recorded three block assists and two solo blocks.
The Tigers were led by Alyssa Hartney with 17 points and 16 kills. Shelby Kinzer recorded a team-high 20.5 points and also added 15 kills and 18 digs.
Morgan Steck added a match-high 52 assists while Faith Zehnder added and team leading 25 digs.
