MEN'S VOLLEYBALL EXTENDS WINNING STREAK TO SIX WITH WIN OVER BROOKLYN COLLEGE
Orangebur, N.Y. (2/27/24) The Dominican University New York men's volleyball team extended their winning streak to six with a 3-0 victory over Brooklyn College in non-conference action tonight.
The Chargers extend their current winning streak to six matches and improve to 8-6 overall while the Bulldogs fall to 4-8.
The Chargers used a 6-1 run to open the first set. The Bulldogs closed the gap and cut the lead to 15-10 but the Chargers answered with a 10-2 run to complete the victory in the opening set.
The Chargers led 14-12 in the second set and pulled away late by outscoring the Bulldogs 11-7 to close out a 25-19 win to take a 2-0 advantage.
The Chargers jumped out in front early in the third set by using an 8-1 run and finished the match outscoring Brooklyn 16-5 to complete the sweep.
Phinehas Wiley (Cedarburg, Wis.), Jaiden Wilcox (Meridian, Idaho), and Ayden Shaw (Centennial, Colo.) combined for 29 kills and 39 points scored.
Wiley finished with a team-high five service aces and added three digs and one solo block. Wilcox also added three digs, one service ace, and one block assist. Shaw recorded three digs, two service aces, and one block assist.
Luke Koster (Geneva, Ill.) finished with a match high 27 assists and recorded three digs. Dennis Ancheta (Aurora, Colo.) finished with a team-high eight digs.
The Chargers return to action on Friday night when they visit Merrimack College for a non-conference match at 7:00 PM.
