LADY CHARGERS OPEN 2019 SEASON AT THE SPRING GAMES
Clermont, Fla. (3/9/19) The Dominican College softball team opened up the 2019 season with two losses at THE Spring Games played in Clermont, Fla. DC fell to Truman in the opener, 6-4 and lost to Southern Indiana, 6-0.

Clermont, Fla. (3/9/19) The Dominican College softball team opened up the 2019 season with two losses at THE Spring Games played in Clermont, Fla. DC fell to Truman in the opener, 6-4 and lost to Southern Indiana, 6-0.
With the losses, the Lady Chargers are no 0-2 on the year.
Game One: The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard with two runs in the top of the first and held that lead until the third inning when the Lady Chargers struck for three runs on three hits. Shortstop Shailei Kraft (Waverly, N.Y.) got DC on the board with a run-scoring single to center field and two batters later designated player Alexandria Ledgerwood (Salem, Ore.) delivered a two-run double to left field to give Dominican the 3-2 edge.
Truman retook the lead with two runs in the fourth and added one in their half of the fifth frame for the 5-3 lead. DC got a run back in the bottom of the fifth on the RBI single off the bat of outfielder Samantha Fitzgerald (Fishkill, N.Y.) to cut the lead to 5-4. The Bulldogs added a run in the sixth for the final 6-4 win.
Kraft led Dominican with two hits, while Ledgerwood finished with two runs batted in (RBI).
Freshman pitcher Madeline Uschock (Greensburg, Pa.) took the loss (0-1) in four and 1/3 innings of work, allowing five runs (one earned) on five hits and two strikeouts.
Senior Jennifer Paride (Stonington, Conn.) came in for the final two and 2/3 innings.
Game Two: In the nightcap the Eagles offense recorded six runs on 16 hits en route to the 6-0 shut out, including a four-run bottom of the first inning.
Left fielder GeorgieRose Super (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) had the lone hit for the Lady Chargers.
Sophomore Shelby Smith (Valley Center, Calif.) suffered the loss (0-1) in six innings of work, allowing six runs (one earned) on 16 hits and three strikeouts.
Dominican will take on Southern Connecticut State University and Lewis tomorrow at THE Spring Games.
