COUGARS SLIP BY LADY CHARGERS
Caldwell, N.J. (1/25/23) A strong fourth quarter led the Caldwell University women’s basketball team to a 72-67 victory over the visiting Dominican University New York Lady Chargers in Central Atlantic Collegiate Action played tonight on Corino Court.

Following the loss Dominican now stands at 12-8 overall and 7-3 in conference play, while the Cougars improve to 10-9 overall and 6-5 in the CACC.
The score was tied at 15-all late in the first quarter when Chidinma Ndukauba (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored a layup and Angelina DiMarsico (Stony Point, N.Y.) closed out the quarter with a three-point basket to give the Lady Chargers the 20-15 advantage.
Dominican extended the lead to 28-20 on a Cayla Howard (Naugatuck, Conn.) jumper with 7:04 left in the second quarter and she later ended the quarter with a layup to give the Lady Chargers a 42-35 lead at the break.
Guard Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) propelled the team to a fifteen point lead (56-41) as she recorded back-to-back free throws with under four minutes left in the third. Caldwell concluded the quarter on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 56-49.
A 9-2 opening fourth quarter tied the game at 58-58, but a three-point basket by Elle Nittinger (Waverly, N.Y.) and a layup by Tanasha Mills (Nanuet, N.Y.) under a minute to play rebuilt a 67-66 lead for the Lady Chargers. Caldwell closed out the game by going 6-6 from the charity stripe for the 72-67 victory.
Mills led two players in double figures with 22 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Guard DiMarsico finished with 12 points. Kristen Teklits (New Fairfield, Conn.) contributed nine points and nine rebounds.
Suarez pulled down nine rebounds, while Howard added nine points and five caroms.
Dominican returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Thomas Jefferson University.
