LADY CHARGERS UPEND PURPLE KNIGHTS FOR SEASON SWEEP

The Lady Chargers defeated UB 75-50 to complete the season sweep and get back in the win column and improve to 13-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
The Lady Chargers were led by Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) and Cayla Howard (Naugatuck, Conn.) who each finished the game with 13 points. Howard added four rebounds while Suarez finished the game with a double-double and a game-high 11 boards.
Tanasha Mills (New City, N.Y.) finished the game with 11 points including a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe and also added three assists and three steals.
Chidinma Ndukauba (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 10 points off the bench and pulled down six boards. Olivia Levy (Stony Point, N.Y.) added eight points, seven boards, and a team-high five assists. Kristen Teklits (New Fairfield, Conn.) contributed six points and six boards.
The Lady Chargers never trailed in the game and finished the opening quarter ahead 17-9. The Lady Chargers put up 20 points in the second quarter and extended to their largest lead of the first half which was 14 points and took a 37-25 lead into halftime.
The Lady Chargers continued their strong play and remained in control of the game in the third quarter by outscoring UB 22-13 in the quarter.
Dominican put the game away by extending to their largest lead in the fourth quarter and completed the win.
Dominican finished the game 18-23 from the free-throw line and added 16 second chance points off of 15 offensive rebounds.
UB was led by Amani Melendez who finished with 14 points and added four boards. Brianna Meekins added 10 points and seven boards while Stephanie McBride added a team-high nine rebounds.
Dominican will return to action on the road this Saturday, February 4th when they visit Georgian Court University for a CACC contest at 12:00 PM.
