Orangeburg, N.Y. (2/3/24) The Dominican University New York women's basketball team downed the visiting Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, 66-49, this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
With the win the Lady Chargers improve to 9-10 overall and 6-4 in CACC play, while the Lightning fall to 2-20 overall and 1-9 in conference play.
Freshman guard Isabella Javier (Bergenfield, N.J.) posted a career high 18 points, shooting 6-9 from the floor and 3-5 from the arc, and six rebounds.
Tamia Nunes (Worcester, Mass.) netted 13 points and a career best nine caroms, while Tanasha Mills (New City, N.Y.) scored 11 points.
Senior Chidinma Ndukauba (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 10 points and five boards in the win.
Dominican led 50-42 after three quarters of play but a 7-4 run in the fourth extended the lead to 57-46 with 3:14 left in regulation. DUNY closed out the contest on a 7-0 run en route to the 66-49 win.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Tuesday evening when they host Post University in a crucial CACC North Division contest. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm.
