WOMEN'S LACROSSE EXTENDS STREAK TO FIVE WITH WIN OVER FELICIAN UNIVERSITY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (3/26/24) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team extended their winning streak to five straight games with a conference victory over the Golden Falcons of Felician University this afternoon on O'Brien Field.
With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play while the Golden Falcons fall to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the CACC.
Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (Hicksville, N.Y.) earned her seventh win of the season in net for the Lady Chargers. Ilyanna Rivera started in goal for the Golden Falcons and made six saves but suffered the loss.
The Lady Chargers opened the game with an 8-0 run which included four consecutive goals by Madelyn Grella (Monmouth Beach, N.J.).
Dominican added seven goals in the second quarter and held a 16-1 lead by halftime.
DU extended their lead with three goals in the third quarter and five goals in the fourth quarter on their way to a 24-3 victory.
Grella matched her career high 11 points with six goals and five assists. Grace DeStasio (West Hempstead, N.Y.) scored five goals and added one assist and six draw controls.
Sydney Strohmayer (Rocky Point, N.Y.) finished with four goals, five draw controls, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Erica Ortiz (Slate Hill, N.Y.) scored three goals and added two assists as well as a team-high seven draw controls.
Josie Lettieri (Deer Park, N.Y.) added two goals while Jada Garcia (Old Bridge, N.J.), Lea Henke (Rocky Point, N.Y.), Caitlin Costello (Seaford, N.Y.), and Alexa Preston (Coram, N.Y.) each scored one goal. Costello recorded a team-high six assists.
Julia Ravazza scored three goals for the Golden Falcons while Mackenzie Fox added one assist.
The Lady Chargers return to action on Wednesday, April 3rd when they travel to the University of Bridgeport for a CACC contest at 4:00 PM.
