Bio

Coach Ivan Rudolph-Shabinsky leads both the men’s and women’s rowing programs at Dominican College. He has decades of rowing and coaching experience. He was a varsity rower at Cornell University, where he rowed for four years. As an alumnus, he served as president of the Cornell Rowing Association and was subsequently voted a life member. He currently coaches and rows at Rockland Rowing, a non-profit community rowing program in Rockland County where he is also president of the board of directors. As a volunteer, he is one of the head coaches for the Rockland Rowing youth team, which has seen significant success on the regional and national level.

Coach Rudolph-Shabinsky also continues to compete himself, most recently winning the 2019 Head of the Charles in the 50+ four as part of a Cornell Alumni entry. Over the last 10 years he has won several gold medals in both sweep and sculling events at US Rowing’s Masters Nationals and at Canadian Henley Veterans with both Cornell alumni and his fellow masters rowers at Rockland Rowing. He says that rowing has been a huge, positive part of his life and that he receives great joy in coaching and training rowers who he hopes can benefit from the sport as much as he has.

Coach Rudolph-Shabinksy is also known as Professor Ivan, as he both teaches in and leads the school’s business administration division.
