New Haven, Conn. (5/30/13) The Wilmington University men and the Dominican College women repeat as the winners of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Alfred R. Restaino Sr. Cups in an announcement made today by Commissioner Dan Mara.

The cups are awarded annually to the institutions that perform best in all CACC-sponsored sports.  The point system used for the award takes into account each athletic program’s finish in both the CACC 2012-2013 regular season and conference tournaments.  Each institution receives a combined point total and that total is then divided by the number of sports the institution sponsors. 

Wilmington (11.95 total point average) claimed the men’s Restaino Cup for the fourth-straight year on the strength of conference championships in cross country, golf and both regular season and tournament titles in baseball.  The Wildcats amassed 59.75 points in the five sports the program sponsors.  Wilmington claimed four of the eight possible men’s championships that the conference offers.

Dominican finished second in the men’s standings with 11.31 total point average.  The Chargers claimed the CACC North Division Men’s Basketball Championship and captured the men’s soccer tournament championship after finishing second in the regular season standings. 

Philadelphia University (10.83) completed the top-three men’s institutions this year.  The Rams are one of three CACC institutions that offer all six men’s conference sponsored sports and posted a runner-up finish in the basketball South Division standings and tournament, as well as third place finish in tennis and the cross country championship.

Bloomfield College (9.85), Chestnut Hill College (9.45), Post University (9.42) and Nyack College (9.4) round out the top seven ranked institutions in the men’s standings.

On the women’s side, Dominican (11.33 total point average) garnered its third-straight women’s Restaino Cup as the Chargers claimed the regular season and tournament championship in volleyball, the regular season championship and third-place effort in softball as well as a second place regular season finish in the North Division basketball standings. 

Philadelphia U. (11.107), one of five institutions to offer all seven CACC sports, won the 2012 CACC Women’s Cross Country Championship and the regular season title in women’s lacrosse.  The Rams tied for second in the soccer standings and recorded a runner-up performance at the championship.  PhilaU also enjoyed a second place finish in volleyball with a semifinal appearance as well.

Wilmington (10.79) also enjoyed a strong showing in the CACC women’s sponsored sports.  The Wildcats captured the regular season and tournament championship in soccer and was the regular season champion in volleyball. 

Rounding out the top-seven programs on the women’s side include: Georgian Court University (10.75), Caldwell College (10.54), Holy Family University (10.25) and the University of the Sciences (9.85).

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference is an NCAA Division II Conference composed of 14 institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
