OFFENSE POWERS BASEBALL OVER QUEENS COLLEGE
Flushing, NY (3/18/11) The Dominican College baseball team pounded out 13 hits as they topped host, Queens College, 15-10, this afternoon in a non-conference contest played on Ray Metski Field. With the victory Dominican now stands at 4-4 overall.

The Chargers did all of their scoring in the first five innings, capped off by a seven-run top of the fifth to take a commanding 15-0 lead. In the first inning, Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) hit a sacrifice fly ball to left field to score Christopher Brown (Tenafly, NJ) who had led off the game with a walk. In the second inning, Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) hit an RBI single through the right side and Marco Moreno (Miami, FL) delivered a two out RBI double to center field to give DC a 3-0 lead.
An RBI triple to right field by second basemen Mario Lopez (Anthony, NM) increased the Charger lead to 4-0 after three innings of play and in the fourth Dominican scored four runs on four hits to go up 8-0. Moreno singled up-the-middle to plate Bonilla, who had reached on an error to lead off the inning and Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) hit a one out sacrifice fly to center field to bring home Moreno. An RBI single to center field by Camardella brought home the third DC run of the inning and Lopez tallied his second RBI of the day with a double to right center field.
In the fifth, Moreno, senior Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) and Camardella each hit RBI singles. Blake and Robinson later scored on a fielding error, while Lopez followed with an RBI single to right field. The final run of the inning came as Bonilla reached on a fielder's choice which allowed Lopez to score.
Queens came back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth frame, while tacking on four runs each in the seventh and ninth innings for the final 15-10 score.
Moreno, Camardella and Lopez each collected three hits and three RBIs a-piece, while Bonilla and Camardella each scored three runs.
Junior Justin Moore (Wantagh, NY) improved to 2-0 on the season, allowing two runs on six hits and five strikeouts in six innings.
