BASEBALL SPLITS WITH DOWLING COLLEGE
Brookhaven, NY (3/19/11) The Dominican College baseball squad split a non-conference double-header with host Dowling College this afternoon in games played at Golden Lion Field. Dominican won the first game, 4-1, but fell in the night cap, 5-1 to the Golden Lions. With the split Dominican now stands at 5-5 on the season.

Brookhaven, NY (3/19/11) The Dominican College baseball squad split a non-conference double-header with host Dowling College this afternoon in games played at Golden Lion Field. Dominican won the first game, 4-1, but fell in the night cap, 5-1 to the Golden Lions. With the split Dominican now stands at 5-5 on the season.
Game One: The game was scoreless until the third inning when the Chargers struck for two runs as senior Dan Robinson (Massapequa, NY) scored on a balk and Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) later scored on a wild pitch for a 2-0 lead.
The Lions got a run back in the fifth, but an RBI ground out by Robert Iglesias (Mays Landing, NJ) in the sixth and an infield RBI single by senior Mario Lopez (Anthony, NM) in the top of the seventh gave the Chargers the 4-1 victory.
Dustin Javins (Fort Lauderdale, FL) improved to 1-1 on the season, allowing one run on seven hits and five strikeouts.
Robinson went 2-4 with two runs scored in the victory.
Game Two: Dominican took an early 1-0 lead in the first as Michael Levy, Jr (Salisbury Mill, NY) led off the game with a triple to right field and scored on the RBI single to center field by Robinson.
Dowling tallied two runs in the bottom of the first, added two more in the third and a run in the fifth for the 5-1 victory.
Starter Dave Bartuska (Duryea, PA) suffered the loss (0-2), allowing four runs on four hits and three strikeouts. Freshman Jordan Paszek (Sussex, WI) pitched the final two innings and allowed one run on four hits.
