BASEBALL ENDS LOSING STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER QUEENS COLLEGE
Flushing, NY (3/13/12) The Dominican College baseball team ended a six-game losing streak after defeating host, Queens College, 7-2 this afternoon in a non-conference game played at the Ray Metski Field. With the victory Dominican improves to 2-8 overall, while Queens falls to 3-4 on the season.

The Chargers were first to score in the contest with a run in the second inning as Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) led off the inning with a walk. He later scored on the RBI groundout by third basemen Robert Alonso (Kingston, NY) for the 1-0 lead.
Dominican added to the lead with a six run third inning. James Ferraro (New Paltz, NY) started the inning off with a walk and later scored on the fielder's choice hit by Tony Blake (Windsor, CT). An RBI ground out by outfielder Christopher Gonzalez (Bronx, NY) scored Xavier Boniia (Bronx, NY) and later with the bases loaded Alonso received a free pass for the RBI. Catcher Tyler Clark (Cheshire, CT) followed with an RBI single to left center and Ferraro walked with the bases loaded for another run. Bonilla ended the scoring with a single to right center to hold a 7-1 lead.
The Knights added a run in the fourth for the final 7-2 score.
Starter Victor Cosme (Brooklyn, NY) got the win to improve to 1-0, going six innings and allowing two runs on six hits and six strikeouts. Richard Leachy (Brookfield, WI) pitched the final three innings in the win.
Dominican is back in action on Friday when they travel to Dowling College in a non-conference double-header.
