CHARGERS BASEBALL DEFEAT ST. THOMAS AQUINAS COLLEGE
Pomona, NY (3/21/12) The Dominican College baseball team defeated host, St. Thomas Aquinas College, 6-3 this afternoon in a non-conference game played at Provident Bank Park. With the victory, Dominican improves to 4-13 overall while St. Thomas Aquinas College falls to 11-8 on the season.

The Chargers began the scoring in the first inning as outfielder Tony Blake (Windsor, CT) walked, moved to third on the single by Andrew Camardella (Pelham, NY) and scored on a wild pitch for the 1-0 lead. The Spartans came back with two runs in the second to go ahead 2-0.
Dominican charged back with a four run fifth inning, taking advantage of three Spartan errors. The inning started off with both Blake and Camardella getting hit by-a-pitch and Tyler Sadawske (Waukesha, WI) hit an RBI single to score Blake and advanced on a STAC error. A two run single by Christopher Gonzalez (Bronx, NY) made the score 4-2 and he later scored on an error to make the score 5-2.
DC added a run in the sixth Xavier Bonilla (Bronx, NY) led off the inning with a single and later scored on a passed ball to increase the lead to 6-2.
St. Thomas Aquinas scored a run in the eighth for the eventual final score of 6-3 Dominican.
Junior right-handed pitcher Caleb Whiteley (San Antonio, TX) improved to 1-0 in seven innings of work, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow as they travel to non-conference opponent, Adelphi University.
