CHARGERS DEFEAT LIU POST
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/30/13) The Dominican College baseball team defeated the visiting Pioneers of LIU Post University, 7-3, this afternoon in non-conference action at Veteran's Memorial Park.

The Pioneers led 1-0 after one inning of play, but DC tied the game in the second stanza as senior first basemen Andrew Camardella (Pelham, N.Y.) led off the inning with a solo home run.
LIU regained a 2-1 lead in the top half of the third inning, but the Chargers rallied once again with three runs in the bottom as senior Tony Blake (Windsor, Conn.) had a one out RBI single to right field and catcher Tyler Clark (Cheshire, Conn.) later had a two-run single through the left side to go ahead 4-2.
The Pioneers cut the lead to 4-3 in the top of the sixth inning and DC got the runs back in the bottom of the sixth with two runs on the two-run blast to left field from freshman Kenny Harrell (Pompano Beach, Fla.) to make the score 6-3. Dominican added a run in the seventh on a Pioneer fielding error for the final 7-3 score.
Senior Caleb Whiteley (Joplin, Mo.) picked up the win (3-2), allowing three runs (two earned) on 12 hits and five strikeouts.
Jesse McIlwaine (Huntington, N.Y.) came in to pitch the ninth inning.
Camardella went 3-4 in the game, while Clark and Harrell each had two RBIs.
Dylan Ebel (Coral Springs, Fla.) and Austin Holzkenecht (Coral Springs, Fla.) each had two hits.
