BASEBALL WINS ONE AGAINST BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE

(4/18/15) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host Bloomfield College in games played today at Yogi Berra Stadium. The Bears won the first game by the score of 7-3, while the Chargers took the nigh cap, 17-13.

(4/18/15) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host Bloomfield College in games played today at Yogi Berra Stadium. The Bears won the first game by the score of 7-3, while the Chargers took the nigh cap, 17-13.
Game One: The Chargers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as second basemen Donald Crispyn (Freeport, N.Y.) hit an RBI single to left field.
The Bears countered with a four-run bottom of the second inning to pull ahead 4-1. DC got a run back in the fourth on the sacrifice fly ball hit to center field off the bat of Crispyn to cut the lead to 4-2.
BC added two more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to make the score 7-2. Dominican put a run on the scoreboard in the top of the eighth as third basemen Mark Vargas (Bronx, N.Y.) hit an RBI single up-the-middle for the final 7-3 score.
Franklin Miller (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) took the loss (1-2) in seven innings of work, allowing seven runs on 11 hits and eight strikeouts.
Steven Pastrana (Queens, N.Y.) came in to pitch the eighth inning.
Crispyn went 3-3 in the game with two RBIs, while Carlos Lopez (Miami, Fla.) had two hits and two runs scored.
Game Two: The Charger scored runs in the first five innings to take an 11-4 lead.
A five run seventh inning gaVE them a 16-8 lead en route to the 17-13 victory.
Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) had four hits in the win, with three runs scored.
Robert Alonso (Hurley, N.Y.) added three hits with two runs scored anD five RBIs.
Christopher Potts (Middletown, N.Y.) got the win (1-1) in 5 2/3 innings of work, allowing eight runs on 10 hits and five strikeouts.
Dominican will travel to the University of the Sciences tomorrow.
