Philadelphia, Pa. (4/9/21) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Thomas Jefferson University, in games played this afternoon at Alumni Field.

Philadelphia, Pa. (4/9/21) The Dominican College baseball team split a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header with host, Thomas Jefferson University, in games played this afternoon at Alumni Field.
With the split, Dominican is now 7-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Game One: Jefferson scored three runs in the second for the early lead, but Dominican rallied with three runs in the third to tie the game. One run scored on an error and the second one scored on the sacrifice fly ball hit by Tyler Patterson (East Meadow, N.Y.). The third won came home on the RBI up-the-middle off the bat of Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic).
The game-winning run for the Rams scored on a wild pitch for the 4-3 win.
Second basemen Ryan Ruziecki (Lincroft, N.J.) had two hits in the game.
Junior Jaden Diaz-Lambert (Erial, N.J.) suffered the loss (3-1).
Game Two: The Rams jumped out to a 3-0 advantage after two innings of play, but DC tied the game with a three-run third inning. Carmine Giordano (New Rochelle, N.Y.) got things going with a two-run blast over the left field fence and senior Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) tied the score with a solo home run to left field.
The Chargers added three more runs in the fourth inning as designated hitter Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) blasted a two-run home run over the left field fence and two batters later Arthur Quinones (Miami, Fla.) doubled home a run for the 6-3 lead.
Jefferson got a run back in their half of the fourth inning to make the score 6-4, but Dominican tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning on the two-run double to left center field by Hewlette.
DC added two more runs in the top of the seventh on a passed ball and an RBI single from Colon for the 10-4 lead. The Rams scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the final 10-6 score.
Benjamin Meza (Miami, Fla.) collected three hits in the game, while Hewlette and Colon had two hits a-piece and Hewlette had a game leading four RBI.
Reliever Cole Fancher (Gilboa, N.Y.) got the win in two and 2/3 innings of relief to improve to 1-1 on the year.
Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) earned his first collegiate save in three and 2/3 innings of work.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Monday afternoon when they host Caldwell University.
