Newark, N.J. (4/20/21) The Dominican College baseball team defeated the Bears of Bloomfield College in a high-scoring affair by the score of 11-10.

With the win, the Chargers improve to 10-5 (4-3 CACC) and the Bears fall to 7-7 (7-6 CACC).
Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) finished with three hits including two doubles and three RBIs. Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) had two hits including a double and a homer in the fourth inning. Paulino added three RBIs.
Carmine Giordano (New Rochelle, N.Y.) added two RBIs while Shane Hewlette (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) added one RBI each. Benjamin Meza (Miami, Fla.) recorded a double.
Six home runs were hit in the game by the Bears. Elvis Lopez and Kendon Strachan hit two home runs each.
Tyree Bradley and Darwin Tavarez each hit one home run.
Elvis Lopez finished the game with a team-high four hits and four RBIs. Tyree Bradley and Kendon Strachan recorded two RBIs each. Andres Frias added one RBI.
The Bears struck first in the first inning and added to their lead in the third inning for a 3-0 lead over DC.
The Chargers got on the board in the fourth inning when Paulino hit a two-run home run.
The Bears extended their lead to 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning
The Chargers added two more runs in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Max Chidsey and an RBI single by Brian Sanders. The Chargers cut the deficit to one run in the sixth inning.
Richard Paulino tied the game on an RBI double and then Shane Hewlette put the Chargers on top for the first time in the game. In the eighth inning, the Chargers extended their lead to 11-6.
The Bears rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning including three straight home runs to begin the inning.
Kendon Strachan, Tyree Bradley, and Darwin Tavarez each homered consecutively to begin the bottom of the ninth inning to cut the deficit to 11-9. The Bears continued the rally by loading the bases with two outs.
Elvis Lopez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to cut the DC lead to 11-10. Nicholas Bolanos (Miami, Fla.) recorded the final out and recorded the save.
The Chargers will be back in action on Wednesday, April 21st when they return home to host Goldey-Beacom College for a conference doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 2:00 PM and game two will follow at 5:00 PM.
