COLON NAMED CACC PLAYER OF THE YEAR; THREE OTHERS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE ACCOLADES
New Haven, Conn. (5/11/21) Dominican College standout Joshua Colon on Tuesday was named the 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Year, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. In addition to Colon's honor, other major awards and all-conference honorees were announced as the voting for all awards was done by the league's 11 head coaches who had teams competing in the sport this spring.

In addition to Colon's honor, other major awards and all-conference honorees were announced as the voting for all awards was done by the league's 11 head coaches who had teams competing in the sport this spring.
Richard Paulino (San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic) was alos named to the All-CACC First Team, while Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) and Jaden Diaz-Lambert (Erial, N.J.) received All-CACC Second Team honors.
Colon was also named to the All-CACC First Team at shortstop. He was one of three stars on Tuesday to earn major accolades, including Thomas Jefferson University's Jack Galligan (CACC Pitcher of the Year) and Goldey-Beacom College's Garrett Musey (CACC Rookie of the Year). G-B's Tom Riley was named the CACC Coach of the Year for guiding the Lightning the CACC South Division title, and Nyack College was named the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award winner for demonstrating outstanding character throughout the season.
Colon currently ranks second in the CACC with a .422 batting average. He has homered seven times, while driving in 35 runs and coming around to score 27 times. Colon has pounded out 43 hits this season, which is the third best total in the CACC. He also ranks in the top 10 in doubles (6th, 10), triples (2nd, 6), home runs (8th), RBI (6th) and total bases (86, 2nd). Colon has produced 17 multi-hit games, including a streak of eight straight from April 24-April 30.
Paulino, a junior third basemen, currently leads the CACC in doubles, while ranking in the top 15 in hits, RBI, batting average and total bases. He leads the team in doubles, is second in RBI, third in hits andfourth in batting average.
A sophonore outfielder, Sanders, ranks in the top 10 in the conference in hits, runs and doubles, while sitting 13th in on-base percentage and 14th in batting average. Sanders leads the Chargers in runs scored, while ranking second in hits, third in doubles and fourth in RBI.
Diaz-Lambert, a junior pitcher, leads Dominican in wins and innings pitched. He is second on the team in strikeouts with two complete games. Diaz-Lambert leads the CACC in complete games, is third in wins, ninth in innings pitched, fifth in strikeouts per game and ninth in strikeouts.
