CHARGERS TAKE DOWN STAC IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION
Pomona, N.Y. (4/10/24) The Dominican University New York Baseball team took down the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College in non-conference action at Clover Stadium this afternoon.
The Chargers improve to 12-22 overall while STAC falls to 13-17 overall.
Maverick Medina (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) tossed 5.1 innings and struck out five batters to earn his first win of the season on the mound.
The Chargers took the lead in the first inning on the first of four RBIs on the day for Davin Keddell-Tuckey (Troy, N.Y.). After STAC tied the game in the bottom of the first, the Chargers regained the lead after RBI-singles by David Knepper (Miami, Fla.) and Ty Gilligan (Ringwood, N.J.).
STAC cut the deficit to 3-2 before the Chargers rallied for five runs in the fourth inning and four more runs later in the game. DU added another run in the eighth inning and secured the win.
Knepper and Gilligan combined for eight hits and four RBIs while Keddell-Tuckey finished with two hits and four RBIs.
Myles Vazquez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished 3-5 with two RBIs and one run scored. Joseph Torres (Putnam Valley, N.Y.), Anthony Nigro (Stony Point, N.Y.), and Jaden Maia (Southington, Conn.) each drove in one RBI.
The Chargers return to conference play when they visit Felician University on Friday to wrap up their season series with a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM.
