MERRIMACK COLLEGE DEFEATS MEN'S BASKETBALL

Dominican jolted out to an 18-5 lead after seven minutes of action, before an 11-0 run by the Warriors cut the lead to a point, 22-21 with 7:50 remaining in the first period. After a three point play from sophomore forward Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, MD) the Chargers held a 25-21 lead with just under seven minutes remaining before the intermission, but an 8-0 run by Merrimack put them ahead, 26-25 and they went into the break with a two point lead (37-35).
Merrimack never relinquished a lead in the second half. DC cut the deficit to three points (71-74) with 48 ticks left on the clock after back-to-back jumpers by sophomores Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) and Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY). Forced to foul, MC converted two free throws and hit a jumper en route to securing an 80-73 victory.
Porter led the team with a season high 26 points and grabbing a team leading eight rebounds to go along with six assists. Senior center Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ) netted 11 points and seven boards, while Quimby finished with 10 points and seven caroms in the loss. Gerald Hill (Gwynn Oak, MD) came off the bench to score nine points.
The Chargers were held to 37.5% shooting from the field and 30% from three-point range. Dominican owned the rebounding advantage, pulling down 47 boards while Merrimack grabbed 42.
Dominican will take on Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent, Concordia College on Thursday, December 9th at 7pm.
