CHARGERS BASKETBALL EXTENDS WINNING STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY
Caldwell, NJ (12/19/10) The Dominican College men's basketball team extended their winning streak to four games as five players scored in double figures in an 83-78 victory over Cheyney University at the ECAC Holiday Classic hosted by Caldwell College.

Cheyney held a 24-14 lead with 10:00 to go in the first half when sophomore forward Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, MD) started off an 11-0 run for DC with the first nine points on four baskets and a free throw, followed by an Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ) layup to give the Chargers their first lead (25-24) with just over six minutes remaining before the break.
Trailing by two (30-28) with four ticks on the clock, sophomore Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY) scored a layup as time expired to tie the game at 30-30.
DC used the first four minutes of the second half to gain a 42-35 advantage and held the lead until the 7:25 mark when Cheyney tied the game at 62-62. An and-one play from Hodzic rebuilt a seven point lead for Dominican (74-67) with 2:03 remaining in regulation and held a 77-71 lead with just over a minute to play.
A layup by Cheyney cut the lead to three (81-78) with 0:10 on the clock and two free throws from junior Michael Calzonetti (Gloucester, NJ) secured the 83-78 victory.
Sophomore guard Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) led five players and four starters in double figures with 16 points (5-10 from the floor) and five assists. Woods finished with 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench, while freshman guard Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, NY) tallied 12 points.
Quimby and rookie Jonathan Brown (Central Islip, NY) each netted 11 points in the victory, while Hodzic finished with nine points and a team leading nine rebounds.
With the win Dominican improves to 4-7 on the year.
Dominican returns to action on January 2nd and 3rd when they host the 5th Annual James Clancy Tournament.
