DOMINICAN AND QUEENS ADVANCE TO 5TH ANNUAL JAMES CLANCY MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Orangeburg, NY (1/2/11) The Dominican College men's basketball team defeated Concordia College, 78-72, to advance to the championship game of the 5th Annual James Clancy Memorial Tournament and win their fifth straight contest this afternoon. In action earlier today, Queens College turned back Caldwell College, 78-70.

Down 7-4 with just over 18-minutes left in the first half, the Chargers charged ahead with an 19-0 run, including six straight points from senior center Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ), to take a 23-7 lead with 10:20 on the clock and went into the intermission with a 39-24 lead.
Hodzic finished the half with 10 points, while rookie guard Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, NY) netted 11 points, shooting 4-6 from the floor, 3-5 from the three point arc for the half.
The Clippers came back in the second half to cut the deficit to two points (47-45) with 11:42 to go in regulation and later tied the contest at 51-51 on a layup with just under ten minutes left. Tied 55-55, DC pulled ahead with 5-0 spurt and led 64-61 with four minutes remaining.
Four straight points by Hodzic and a key three point basket from sophomore Preston Smith (Mays Landing, NJ) gave the Chargers a 71-63 lead and Dominican went 7-10 from the charity stripe in the final 1:13 ticks on the clock for the 78-72 victory.
Hodzic led all scorers with 21 points, four blocks and seven rebounds, while Ginyard finished with 16 points, shooting 4-7 from the three point line. Forward Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY) finished with 10 points and grabbed a team leading nine rebounds in the victory. Guard Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) had a game leading seven assists.
With the victory Dominican improves to 5-7 on the season.
In action early today, Queens College had three players in double figures to lead them to a 78-70 victory.
Tomorrow's consolation game will feature Caldwell College against Concordia College at 4pm, while Queens College will face Dominican at 6pm in the championship game of the 5th Annual James Clancy Memorial Tournament.
