MEN'S BASKETBALL CHARGE PAST FELICIAN COLLEGE
Orangeburg, NY (1/11/11) The Dominican College men's basketball team charged past the visiting Golden Falcons of Felician College, 78-65, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest held on Coach Baxter Court at the Hennessy Center. Tonight's victory is the Chargers eighth in the last nine games to improve their record to 8-8 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

Tonight's victory is the Chargers eighth in the last nine games to improve their record to 8-8 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Dominican never trailed during the contest and shot 53.4% (31-58) from the floor in the game, compared to 31.7% (20-63) from the Golden Falcons. Both teams tallied 36 rebounds, while Felician were better from the free throw line, 87.0% (20-23) versus 75.0% (12-16) by Dominican.
DC held an 15-11 lead with just under eleven minutes in the first half when two layups from sophomores Daniel Woods (Upper Marlboro, MD) and one from Leon Porter (Laurel, MD) extended the lead to double-digits (21-11) with 8:05 before the break. Leading 36-23 after two free throws from center Almin Hodzic (Budd Lake, NJ), the Golden Falcons ended the half with a trey to make the score 38-28.
A Porter layup gave the Chargers their biggest lead of the game at 19 points (69-50) with under six minutes remaining. Felician then outscored Dominican 15-7 over the next five minutes to cut the deficit to 11 points (76-65), but guard Preston Smith (Mays Landing, NJ) closed out the game with a jump shot for the final 78-65 Dominican victory.
Hodzic tallied his fourth straight and sixth double-double of the season to lead all scorers and rebounds with 23 points (9-13 from the floor), 16 rebounds and a career high eight blocks in the game.
Porter finished with 18 points, six boards and a team leading four assists, while rookie Khaleev Ginyard (Brentwood, NY) tallied 11 points. Sophomore Cory Quimby (Otisville, NY) came off the bench to net eight points in the win.
Devon Young and Kashiff Foster led Felician with 17 points and seven rebounds each, while Suquan Gary added 16 points.
Dominican returns to action on Saturday, January 22nd when they host a game to be nationally televised on CBS College Sports Network against CACC North Division rival, Nyack College. Tip-off is slated for 11:30 am.
